As your Deputy Mayor and County Councillor, I will continue to focus on responsible financial management, sustainable growth, strong local services, and building a community where people of all ages can thrive. These priorities reflect the conversations I've had with residents, businesses, and community organizations, and my commitment to leading with purpose while building with people.
Enhancing Quality of Life
A strong community is one where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Over the past four years, I've championed initiatives that make Woodstock more welcoming, inclusive, and resilient, including:
- Prioritizing housing affordability and increasing housing supply.
- Supporting Safe and Well Oxford and community safety initiatives.
- Advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in municipal decision-making.
- Planning for future child care spaces in municipal facilities.
- Supporting age-friendly policies for older adults.
- Investing in downtown revitalization and vibrant public spaces.
- Expanding environmental initiatives, including Green Bin organics and community energy planning.
Looking ahead, I will continue building partnerships that expand access to mental health, addiction treatment, transitional housing, and other community supports. I also remain committed to fostering a community where everyone feels welcome, valued, and has the opportunity to participate fully in community life.
Strong communities are built by investing in people as much as infrastructure.
Creating a Dynamic and Diversified Economy
A strong local economy depends on attracting investment, supporting local businesses, and ensuring we have housing that meets the needs of a growing community.
Supporting more residential development in our downtown through updates to the Official Plan will bring new life to our core, create more housing choices, and help local businesses thrive.
I will continue working with residents, businesses, developers, and community partners to build a stronger economy while creating the housing Woodstock needs for the future.
Protecting and Enhancing Our Environment
Protecting our environment means making smart investments that benefit our community today and for future generations.
I will continue supporting the successful expansion of the Green Bin organics program across Oxford County while championing Woodstock's Community Energy Plan to improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and strengthen our community's long-term sustainability.
A healthy environment and a strong economy go hand in hand, creating a more resilient future for everyone.
Environmental responsibility and economic prosperity are not competing priorities, they are complementary goals that help create a resilient community.
Ensuring Long-Term Sustainable Growth
Growth must be planned responsibly so our infrastructure, municipal services, and community amenities keep pace with our growing population.
I will continue supporting investments that strengthen roads, water and wastewater systems, parks, arenas, and community facilities while ensuring tax dollars are managed responsibly.
